NTT DoCoMo Phones

Guys, how would you feel about having a mobile phone that has the motion-sensing feature similar to that of the Wii? NTT DoCoMo announced that thy will be releasing new phones that will bear the motion-sensing feature. By this month DoCoMo will release two FOMA 904i series phones primarily in Japan. But these new phones will only initially have the feature for some of the games. DoCoMo hopes though that in the later part of this year the phones will have gesture sensing for map browsing, menu scrolling, and picture browsing as well as for mobile net surfing.

This motion-sensing software to be integrated in the cell phones comes from GestureTek, a company that has been in the industry of creating camera-based motion-sensing technology for like 20 years now. The software will enable the 904i series phones to sense shake, rock and roll motions. Shaking motion can be done like if the game involves rolling of the dice. The up, down, left and right motion comprise the rocking motion, while the roll refer to the tilting actions when browsing maps and games.

So once this kind of trend starts it won’t be long before other cell phone makers follow right? In a few years’ or months’ time don’t be surprised if you see people on the streets making all kinds of motions while using their phones.
