After much disappointment of Nintendo fans over the Wii not being on the top spot last year, they will be glad to know that for this first quarter Nintendo finally managed to nail down the top 2 spots as the best-selling new video game systems in America. The two top spots is attributed to Nintendo’s DS and Wii game console. This is according to the information gathered by the NPD group. According to NPD Wii also remains to be the fastest selling new console as seen from its sales performance over the last five months of being out in the market. The DS as well is making it well in the market with sales units just a little short of reaching 1.25 million for the first quarter 2007. With these figures Nintendo really went over ahead its competitors.

According to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, “The message delivered by both Wii and Nintendo DS is the same one. Innovation is compelling both current gamers and new gamers to experience a new way to play. Nintendo is bringing gaming back to the masses."
