January 30 marked the day of Microsoft Vista’s launch. This day is certainly a very memorable one for those who have watched and waited for this new operating system. The launch itself was not really that much of a party hooker, held at the British Library in London. Consequently, the Vista was also launched in 70 countries around the world. Like any other major event, the launch started an hour late. But it’s not such a big deal because the audience was entertained Indie classics. Anyway, after 5 long years of waiting, 1 hour more is quite tolerable.
Gordon Frazer, Microsoft’s UK’s MD gave the intro for Microsoft founder Bill Gates. In his short message Bill gates emphasized the importance of “being connected”. Nowadays it is no longer just about being online or offline, being in touch 24/7 is the trend if you want to get ahead. He did not broach on the subject about the Vista, much to the disappointment of the audience.
After Bill finished, there was an intermission number from “The Feeling”. The much awaited part came with David Weeks, Microsoft’s Windows Client marketing Manager. He did some demo on how to operate it, like navigating using the desktop search tool and also how to create picture slideshow and formatting a Word document. After his presentation some other followed like the presentation from Windows Business Client Group. It is said that the launching of the Vista should have had more meat in it. Important thing though is that XP users still have until 2011 to make the switch to this new OS.
