Robots as Nurses Coming Up in 2010!

Robots

How would you feel about having a robot for a nurse? This scenario is not unlikely because right at this moment European scientists are working into developing robot nurses! This endeavor is being funded by the European Union. Under the project which they call as IWARD, scientists coming from the universities of Warwick, Dublin, Cardiff and Newcastle are working with engineers and software experts in producing a three-robot prototype system.

They say that within 3 years these little robots could be a natural sight in British hospitals. But even with these robots, nothing can still match the human warmth that’s offered by real people. I guess there is no fear of this since the robots will be placed responsible for simple jobs like taking messages, cleaning up spillage as well as leading visitors to the rooms. Scientists also foresee these robots as being capable of delivering medicines and keep tabs on patients’ temperature. By letting the robots do the more mundane stuff real life nurses will be able to concentrate more on the patients. So if you are intending to be a nurse you don’t need to fear that these robots will completely take over!

British hospitals had better be ready and get used to the idea of having robots roaming its hallways because there’s no stopping these scientists. Expect robot nurses by 2010!
