Windows has always been the most popular operating system in the world. In the recent years another OS has come about which is no other than Linux. From a mere experiment, Linux has now reached a higher level. Like Windows, Linux obviously has a lot to offer as well, if its potentials are tapped right. The Linux Foundation is definitely one big step in this direction. This foundation is formed by Open Source Development Labs in Beaverton, Oregon and Free Standards Group in San Francisco.
Since the world of information technology is an ever expanding realm, there is always a need for better services and products. Doing all these is Linux’s aim and The Linux Foundation will be its supporting arm by providing legal services and defending the patent challenges that may arise. In a nutshell, The Foundation will be the one to manage the trademark of Linux. Everything that is in connection to Linux development will be handled by the said foundation.
But aside from the two big corporations, The Linux Foundation also has other backers. And it is not just any backer because they have IBM, Intel, HP , Oracle and Novell.
