Apple has yet to settle its legal issue with Cisco regarding the iPhone trademark, yet here comes a new problem for them. Apple is taking legal actions against any person who may be directly or indirectly involved in with proliferating the iPhone skins. These skins were created by an unknown person or persons, using copyrighted materials in order to develop a user interface (UI) that really looks like Apple’s newly released mobile phone.
The thing about this iPhone skin is that it can be downloaded on almost any smartphone that works using either Windows Mobile or Palm operating systems. So smartphone users who were able to download it will be able to have their share of the iPhone, though in image only, since the skins do not in any ways enhance the function of their phone.
Even though Apple may be on the pursuit of the person who developed the skins, some journalists and website owners who published the availability of skin also received removal letters from the law firm O’Melveny & Myers LLP – Apple’s legal team. This has raised the eyebrows among the lot making it plain that Apple is making too big a deal out of it.
