Cisco’s Linksys Responsible for New iPhone

Just last Monday an iPhone was released to the market. However this is not what people would expect as the product coming from Apple. I know a lot of Apple followers are quite disappointed to know that the iPhone launched was not one from Apple rather from Linksys, an equipment maker for Cisco Systems. This Linksys product enables low cost internet phone calls using the Skype VoIP service. Personally, I think it is really rather disappointing after all the buzz about an Apple iPhone coming out fairly soon.

But then we can’t blame Cisco. Why? Well its for the fact that Cisco has been in ownership of the iPhone brand since 2000. During that year Cisco bought an internet appliance company called Infogear which produced a product which they name iPhone in 1997, so upon purchase the ownership naturally went to Cisco. Linksys is a fairly new acquisition acquired only in 2003 by Cisco.

But then, true Apple devotees will not mind even if the name of the Apple phone is not iPhone, as long as it truly comes from the Apple niche and demonstrates Apple technology.
