Tech N Gadgets

Nike has affiliated with iPod to give us a new cool gadget that combines sports with technology.

The Nike iPod Sport kit uses radio to link a sensor in a runner's shoe to another gadget that clips on to an iPod Nano.
It gives information about the how far the runner/jogger has gone and the calories that they've burned...etc.

Cool right?

Wrong say a team of computer science researchers from the University of Washington!
Their research concludes that it's so easy to eavesdrop on the gadget by intruders.
"So what?" you might be thinking, but I’m sure some ladies out there wouldn't want strangers to know how much they weigh or anything like that. Still, the point is, our personal information can easily be violated. They researchers say that it "fails to offer even the most basic level of user privacy".

If you want to know how serious a case it can be, the scientists made their own home-made receivers and placed them in the side of the park, and by using GPS, they could monitor a person's movement. Stalkers, rapists would love to get their hands on such a cool gadget for Christmas. Make sure you don't!
