Deep Fritz: Unbeatable Computer!

Slowly, we're shifting to the "Terminator" era where computers and people battle it out.
Russia’s Vladimir Kramnik was the first casualty on the human side when he lost to the super computer program, developed by IBM, Deep Fritz in the world chess championship in Germany.
The world's best chess mastermind couldn't take on the skilled software which is available commercially but needs a powerful personal computer.

Now before you go "booing-off" the poor guy, you have to see what he's up against. Deep Fritz calculates millions of positions every second! It seems almost impossible to beat!

Kramnik said he was "a bit disappointed" and expressed hope that a rematch could be arranged in a year or two. "With more time to prepare, I still have a chance."

Yeah! Sure you do!

But at the end of the day, it was Vladimir who "really" wins since he takes home half a million dollars for his loss but Deep Fritz will get nothing more than maybe a RAM upgrade:) so the guy can buy a nice Porsche to dry his tears.

If the Russian did actually win this game, he would have taken home a cool million! Lets wait and see in the rematch!

I’m thinking of something else now…
If Deepi here can think better than humans in a game of chess, what’s to stop the US military, for example, from using such programs in planning wars and battles?
We all know such a program couldn’t mess things in Iraq any further, can it?
