It seems that Nokia is not alone in its drive to bring pure entertainment close to the masses. The Swedish mobile maker Ericsson with its partner Japanese giant Sony, is now catching with the mobile TV concept. After a flourishing venture into the world of handset production they will now try their hand in providing solution for connecting gadgets into the world and this time through mobile TV. And aside from that, they are also thinking of broadband TV.
Because of the various technological advancements happening today, Ericsson and Sony foresees a mass market for mobile TV within two years time. With the mass market, they aim to capture at least 30% of users that regularly watch television through their cell phones. If this vision is reached, it will open up more business for the content producers and network distributors.
Some of the solutions that are being though about by the two companies are the sharing of content through home network and fast channel selector, which will allow a close to home viewing experience.
It seems that cell phones nowadays are equipped with almost all sorts of features like IM, email and other internet applications, so why not add some more? Yeah this time the Sony-Ericsson way!
