Nikon gives amateur photographers and first-time digital camera users more choices by adding five new digital cameras to its COOLPIX lineup of point-n-shoot digicams. These are the S10, L5, L6, S9 and the S7c models—all featuring One Touch portrait button, in-camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting and video recording capability.

The most expensive of the five cameras is the 6-megapixel COOLPIX S10, which is worth $400. It features a 2.5-inch LCD screen, 10x optical lens, Pictmotion (lets users edit and combine movie, images and music), and vibration reduction.

S7c, which costs $350, features a 7.1-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, vibration reduction, Pictmotion, and stop-motion animation capabilities. It’s Wi-Fi enabled, allowing its users to email photos directly from the phone through T-Mobile Hotspot. It also comes with built-in IEEE 802.11b/g LAN support so user can wirelessly transfer photos from the camera to a PC.

Nikon Coolpix L5

Next in line are the 7.2-megapixel L5 digital camera that boasts a 2.5-in LCD, 5x optical zoom, vibration reduction and SD expansion; and the 6-megapixel L6 that comes with 3x optical zoom and supplied Energizer lithium AA-size batteries which let user take a maximum of 1,000 pictures using the same batteries. The two are priced at $300 and $200 respectively.

COOLPIX S9 is the most stylish of all the latest Nikon cameras. It has 6.1-megapixel sensor, 2.5-in screen, 3x optical zoom, stop-motion animation capability and an attractive slim body. It is expected to retail for $250.
