According to market analysts, gaming enthusiasts’ interest on the upcoming PlayStation 3 has grown faint recently. Although people have been anticipating the coming of this seventh generation era video game console, only a few software for the PS3 are coming out. Moreover, it costs much higher than its competitors in the market, including Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, so most gamers might choose their lower-priced options.
Game developers and gaming services providers in Taiwan expressed their preference for Microsoft Xbox 360’s external drive HD-DVD against PS3’s integrated Blu-ray drives, saying that Xbox 360’s drives are more flexible. Microsoft chose this drive mainly because of it is compatible with present DVD formats and that it is cheaper to produce.
PlayStation 3’s Blu-ray has bigger storage capacity and has better performance than HD DVD. This would definitely attract a lot of avid video gamers, but this group comprises only a small portion of the entire market, adds analysts. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 might not be as high-specced as Sony’s PlayStation 3 but the first appeals to majority of the buyers.

i think that PS3 will be the winner in the long term, and the blueray would cost so much that most people could not afford, at least not worldwide. don't forget, many people are rich so what's the matter ? :))
dude are you crazy?? Many people are rich yes in deed... But in compairson to lower class people its like comparing the sun to Earth. Nintendo lost its momentum in the gaming industry with the GameCube and XBox is just begun building its... and let me tell you one tiny mistake from sony, and this Generation of gaming belowns to Microsoft. Not just that but XBOX live is a damn hell of a online gaming system It rocks out the competiotion by far!!!!!
i would have to agree with both of you. The truth is that blueray makes the sony too expensive for average people to want to buy. however, like when dvd came out their player prices went down. as will blue ray's in time. So eventually the ps3 will be much cheaper as long as you wait about 1-3 years. So in the long run, the prize may go to sony. Still, xbox live is almost impossible to compete with not so much as just the experience but because it has also become a huge fad among young adults who play w/ their friends. So for now its anyones game. only time will tell
