Apple’s Next-Gen Computer

Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently introduced at Apple Worldwide Developer Conference the company’s latest computers, “Mac Pro” for professional users and the new Xserve servers for businesses, and the updated Mac OS X called as the “Leopard.” The Leopard, which is the version 10.5 of the Mac OS X will support PowerPC and Intel x86-based Mac computers. It will be out in Spring next year.

The new computers on the other hand, are now Intel-based. The Intel Xserve, which is said to be five times more powerful than the previous Mac server computers, uses the Xeon processors and has maximum 2.25TB storage capacity. It will be out sometime in October and will be sold at $2,999. The Mac Pro, which replaces the PowerMac G5, features two new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors, 4 drive bays and 2 RAM risers. It still has the same aluminum case but it is two times faster than its predecessor. It is now available via apple.com and other Apple retail stores and authorized resellers for $2,499.
