Style: Fashion

Kristin Davis

Maybe if you were to ask some female celebrities what business they would like put up, I’m sure many would answer you – fashion! One more celeb is launching her fashion line soon. It’s one of your favorite “Sex and the City” gals, Charlotte, a.k.a. Kristin Davis. She is partnering with one of the top US retailers Belk Inc. Autumn is the target time for the launch of her debut collection. The collection is a reflection of Kristin’s personal sense of style, “modern, feminine, style savvy”. You have to watch out for a variety of dresses, knits, jeans, handbags, shoes, jewelry, and lingerie. Everything is quite affordable because price range from $40 to $240 each piece.

Natalie Portman is one of the celebrities whose sense of style cannot be faulted.
So far, I haven’t seen or read about her as being featured in any fashion disaster post. She’s always on top of the trends! She proves that fact during the Cannes Film Festival.
I especially liked the dress she wore at the party given by Dolce and Gabbana. She wore an above-the-knee, black dress and over it is a very chic black & white paillettes-embellished Lanvin shrug. Simple and effective!
She paired that with cute, purple pumps!

yellow dress by vs

Aiming for the beach this summer? You should have at least one outfit to make you look perfectly great. If you also want to be in perfect harmony with the colors of the season, don’t hesitate to grab one Strapless smocked dress in plaid from Victoria’s Secret.
This is a very attractive dress with its tube style bodice that fits snugly.
The empire waist flares sexily and flows right on to display the ruffled hem.

One of the most famous designers in history has passed away yesterday ... Yves Saint Laurent died in his Paris home at the age of 71 after a long illness.
Yves Saint Laurent contributed to the realm of fashion so much; he made it acceptable for women to wear pants, he put the C in contemporary fashion and he made it clear that not all trends should be followed and that women should pick classic pieces that survive time! He said: "A woman’s wardrobe shouldn’t change every six months. You should be able to use the pieces you already own and add to them. Because they are like timeless classics".
Yves was also the first designer to use black models on the catwalk!

Rest in peace ... You will be dearly missed in the fashion world.

sex and the city fashion

If you are a Sex and the City fanatic, here’s some good news for you. No, it is not about the show but about the fashion. If you’ve admired and wished you had some of the outfits the girls wear on the series, your wish can now be a reality. Sex and the City’s stylist Patricia Field has designed a collection of clothes and accessories for Marks and Spencer. For sure you’d love to get your hands on one of them.
Remember those sexy and glamorous pieces? You can have something like them in the M&S collection. Patricia Field’s designs will hit the British store in October.
The collection is composed of 35 pieces of shift-style dresses, tops, and trousers.

Kate Moss Summer 2008 Collection

It seems not long ago since Kate Moss launched her second collection for Topshop. The last one I covered was last year, September. And now she’s at it again with her new summer collection. This latest collection is Bohemian-inspired. I must say it’s an amazing collection because avid Topshop customers bought about two hundred of the red pansy dresses for the first and a half hour when the collection went on sale in Topshop’s flagship store in Oxford Street in London. It’s no surprise because it’s really a mouthwatering dress! Another favorite is the Rajasthani-style printed dress with a halter neck.

H&M summer collection

Summer is just around the bend once again. I’m sure a lot of you are looking forward to lounging around swimming pools or on the beach. And summer time is also a time for getting out those summer things that you have in your wardrobe. But, on second thought, you’d better just keep them hidden and buy your summer things from the H&M Summer ‘08 Swim Collection. This new collection is a very colorful one with a bit of ethnic touch. H&M aficionados can look forward to lots of bohemian maxi dresses printed with tropical leaf designs, kimono-sleeved beach cover ups and lots of daring bikinis.

Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) is one of the biggest names in the fashion industry, no doubt about it. It has signed up world-renowned celebrities to endorse and even design for some of their clothing lines. And now H&M is making a big noise again by revealing its guest designer for the autumn line. Rei Kawakubo, the person behind the Japanese label Comme des Garcons, joins H&M for the autumn line. Kawakubo said that she is excited to and challenged to work with H&M because it will be designing with experimentation on whether commercialism and creativity can go together.

Lauren Conrad Clothing Line

Gwen Stefani, Sarah Jessica Parker and lots more ventured in the fashion world by launching their own clothing line. Now, to add to their number is MTV Show “The Hills” star Lauren Conrad. The Lauren Conrad Collection is now available for purchase. You can already avail of her winter 2007 and Spring 2008 collections. If you want to have a peek on what she has to offer you can check out shoplaurenconrad.com.

cameron diaz oscar red carpet dress

The worst dress on the red carpet last night at the Oscars 2008 wasn’t really that bad … but in comparison with the other gowns present, it was ordinary!
Cameron Diaz’s pale pink Dior by John Galliano was a little too simple and too pale for such an event.
The color was all wrong … this season is all about bold colors like red, black and deep purple, but definitely not pale pink!
Cameron’s hair was also too simple … she might look great in au naturel style, but not on an Oscar night!
Her hair was off the beach simple and gives a shabby effect that doesn’t even suit the gown she’s wearing!
Sorry Cammie …

oscars best black dresses

As there were red gowns at the red carpet of the Oscars last night, there were stunning black ones too.
Black gives a great contrast with the red and is totally chic, especially for the most important night in Hollywood.
The top 3 black dresses of the night were worn by Penelope Cruz, Hilary Swank and Jennifer Garner.
Cruz wore a Chanel Haute Couture feather embroidered gown, designed by Karl Lagerfeld just for her.
Swank wore an off the shoulder Versace gown.
Garner wore a black taffeta Oscar de la Renta design which was extra serious!
As for Nicole Kidman, she wore a black gown as well. A to-the-floor Balenciaga gown, that showed off a tiny baby bump.

heidi klum in red

The Oscars red carpet is no doubt one of the most glamorous runways of the year! Big stars in big, expensive designs.
Some hit bull’s-eye, while others got off rail a bit!
Last night the trend at the Oscars was red … a seductive and attractive color that is as perfect as black for such an event.
The first star to stun in red was Heidi Klum in a Galliano Gown. Which by the way, will be auctioned off online to benefit Red Heart Truth charity.
Then Anne Hathaway followed in a Marchesa gown and Katherine Heigl in an Escada gown.
Even Billion dollar girl Miley Cyrus was in a red Valentino gown.
Helen Mirren was in the a regal red dress, maybe the best that night! She wore a George Chakra design with stunning Swarovski diamond sleeves! That suited her and gave her a queen-like aura!

rihanna for H&M

Rihanna … you continually surprise us with your fashion sense, and I say that in an approving way. I really like the way she carved her own unique niche in the music industry and also her own mark in style and fashion. And today she exhibits more of her fashion sense in the new H&M collection that she's endorsing.
Her endorsement is not merely for glamor because the new H&M collection is meant for a higher cause which is to support the global HIV/AIDS-prevention projects.
Among the collection is a racer-back tank top that she designed herself. As you can see it is stamped with her personality which is sexy and edgy at the same time.

The red carpet at the 2008 SAG awards last night was a great opportunity to see celebrities and stunning gowns! While, i have to say, some gowns were just plain ugly!
But, i won't be talking about those ... the best gowns of the night are the ones that count!
Long, flowing and strapless, were the characteristics of most of the best gowns.
The best 6 gowns at the red carpet were worn by Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, America Ferrera, Christina Applegate, Amanda Bynes and Marion Cotillard.
Angelina Jolie chose a flow-y, strapless Hermes gown.
Mom-to-be Cate Blanchett, chose an embroidered Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière.
Ugly Betty's America Ferrera looked nothing less than beautiful in a gray Monique Lhuillier gown.
Christina Applegate went for a sparkling, white Elie Saab creation.
Amanda Bynes looked like a modern-day princess in a beaded Marchesa gown.
As for best actress nominee, Marion Cotillard, she looked regal in gray, strapless Nina Ricci gown.
