Former Dior designer Gianfranco Ferre died last night at the age of 62 due to massive brain hemorrhage after being taken to San Raffaele hospital in Milan on Friday. Ferre played a great role establishing Dior brand and in creating designs that are really one of a kind, hence he was labeled as the “architect of fashion”. Ferre really made his mark in the industry because of the structured and sculpted shapes of his designs. Among Dior’s collection, his trademark was the white blouse and his suits were just the perfect things for women who aren’t afraid to take on the corporate world.
Ferre first worked as accessories and jewellery designer but then he gradually moved to clothes. And it was only in 1970’s that he became the top designer for Christian Dior. He was with Dior until autumn of 1996 after which he attended to his own collection.
Gianfranco Ferre is certainly a big loss to the fashion industry as he was admired by a lot of people, especially those who are in the same industry as him. Some of these well-known designers are Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli and Donatella Versace.
