We all praised and said wow to the gowns sported by the actors and actresses during the Oscars. But do most of you know the persons behind those gowns and suits? Or whose genius generated those eye-catching gowns?

Well this coming June 4 CFDA or Council of Fashion Designers of America will give recognition to the fashion experts who have proven exemplary in their craft. This is actually CFDA’s 25th annual awards ceremony. But this year they have a new award to give and it is the title of Fashion Legend. Want to take a guess as to whom this very first award will go to? Well it is no other than your favorite Ralph Lauren! This is a double blessing for him because it happens together with Ralph Lauren’s 40th anniversary in the business.

According to CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, “No one deserves it more.” And “His vision and innovation epitomizes American design excellence and continues to set the standard in fashion.”

Another category for which Ralph Lauren was nominated for it the menswear designer of the year and he was up against tough competition such as Italo Zuchelli for Calvin Klein, Steven Cox and Daniel Silver for Duckie Brown. He has won the said award 1996 and in 1995 he was awarded womens wear designer of the year.
