Here is how you can get the smell of smoke out of your jacket.
Cotton:
Throw it in the dryer on air fluff, along with fabric-softener sheet to add fragrance.
The circulation of air through the machine will speed up the destinking process.
Leather:
If you have a smooth, natural-color leather jacket, you can wipe off the scent using a washcloth moistened with apple-cider vinegar. If your coat is dyed black or if it’s dyed some color cows don’t come in (red, purple), head for a professional leather cleaner.
Suede:
A rubdown with a damp washcloth (water only) will do the trick. If the suede is dyed, a little color may come off, but as long as you apply the washcloth evenly, no body will notice.
Wool:
Sprinkle baking soda on the coat; let it sit for a half an hour, then vacuum it off. baking soda is a very good natural deodorizer.
Whatever you do, keep your smoky clothes out of the closet, or soon your entire wardrobe will smell.
