As for Justine Henin, this is the first time she reaches the finals at Key Biscayne, after she beat Anna Chakvetadze 6-2, 6-3.

The big match is only hours away ... Who will be the winner of the Australian Open? ... Will it be top-seeded Maria Sharapova or unseeded Serena Williams?
The two players admitted that they both have butterflies, but the butterflies will fly away as the match begins!

Maria Sharapova

Victory! Tennis beauty Maria Sharapova won the US Open setting aside claims that she had already gone as far as she could.
The 19-year-old Russian star is now the highest-earning tennis player in the world. It's ironic because even though she lost five successive Grand Slam semi-finals she still gains more money than Roger Federer, as well as David Beckham and Ronaldo!!

Maria Sharapova will play Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik in the semifinals of the Zurich Open after both secured straight-set victories.

The tennis beauty easily beat Swiss hopeful Timea Bacsinszky, winning 6-4 6-3, and Srebotnik defeated Russia's Maria Kirilenko 6-3 6-2.

About this last tournament, Agassi says: I have yet to prepare myself properly for the emotions throughout this whole sort of summer and most of the year, but in this case, I'm sure I'm underestimating everything I'm going to feel and experience.

Anastasia Myskina

Russian tennis players Anastasia Myskina and Nadia Petrova unexpectedly made early second-round exits Wednesday night at the Rogers Cup, which commenced last August 12 and will end on the 20th. Sixth seeded Myskina yielded to No. 25 Israeli player Shahar Peer who surprisingly finished her off with a 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 6-4 win. Myskina, the 2004 French Open champion, was also unexpectedly defeated by the 3rd seeded Chinese player Zheng Jie, 6-4 6-1, in the Nordic Light Open final last Sunday in Sweden.

Maria Sharapova

It was announced last Sunday that former world number one tennis player Maria Sharapova won’t make it to the Rogers Cup finals due to fatigue. She joined Wibledon champion Amelie Mauresmo, Justine Henin-Hardenne and former number one tennis player Venus Williams in the list of Roger Cup’s no-shows. Because of this Women’s Tennis Association decided to withhold $150,000 from Sharapova’s bonus given at the end of the season.

Agassi

Friday was an emotional day for Agassi and his fans as Chile’s pride, third seed Fernando Gonzalez defeat him 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the Countrywide Classic quarterfinals held at UCLA. Fifth seed Agassi is the defending champion and a four-time winner in the LA tournament, dominating the LA hardcourts back in 1998, 2001 and 2002. This is going to be the last LA tournament for Agassi as he plans to retire after the 2006 US Open, which will begin next month.

Serena Williams

It seems like former world no. 1 tennis player Serena Williams never took a break in playing tennis for several months after showing us her focus and impressive strength last Tuesday in the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open when she defeated no. 2 seed Anastasia Myskina 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the tournament. Serena finished the game in barely an hour, which was really remarkable considering that it’s her first match in six months.

Maria Sharpova

The 18-year-old russian tennis player Maria Sharapova launches her bid to become world No.1 next year at the Australian Women's Hardcourts event.

World No.4 Maria Sharapova won three titles this year - Tokyo, Doha and Birmingham - but failed to add any Majors to go with her 2004 Wimbledon crown.

She was in striking distance of being world No.1 but ultimately finished fourth, her lowest ranking of the year, and is out to improve on that in 2006.

Anastasia Myskina

Anastasia Myskina finally seems to have put her past behind her, winning a WTA Tour singles title after 11 months came as a huge relief for the player who, since becoming the first Russian woman to win a Grand Slam when she became the 2004 French Open champion, suddenly found herself embroiled in an embarrassing controversy that threatened to put her tennis career on hold with her lost court battle against GQ magazine for allowing it to sell topless photos of her to Russian magazine Medved, which published them soon after she won at Roland Garros.
