Brain Damage May Have Caused Chris Benoit To Commit Crime

Even though two months have already passed since wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife and son before killing himself, there is still that big question mark in our minds, especially his fans, on what could have triggered him to do such a thing. Finally we can close the book on this because findings of the study done on his brain cells show that Benoit’s brain has great damage, which could have triggered the killing. And the fact that Benoit had a history on steroid use does not help. According to the investigation Benoit’s testosterone level at that time was way above the normal range, 10 times above.

Brazil Nominated to Host World Cup!

The Fifa World Cup is a highly anticipated event and is set in a different country every time it takes place and this year Brazil want to do the honors. A group of Brazilian representatives that included some of the players from the Brazilian National team arrived in Switzerland to present the Fifa panel with a 900 page document. This 900 page document is in the form of an application and details 18 Brazilian cities that are nominated to host the matches of the World Cup. The Brazilian application was also placed in a wooden box made out of authentic Brazilian wood which is a smart way of symbolizing that they care about the environment.

Pele Warns Beckham!

Many of you will be aware that Brazilian football legend Pele played a big part in increasing interest in the game of football in the USA when he joined a New York team in the 1970’s. Now Pele is giving Beckham a few tips and warnings because he believes David Beckham can help increase the popularity of football but only if he is prepared for hard work. Beckham joined the Los Angeles Galaxy football team and he was officially presented to the public with his new team yesterday and was given his LA Galaxy Jersey.

Lewis Hamilton earned his number one place in his debut Montreal race in the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Everyone was talking about him with full enthusiasm, happiness and admiration. But the mood was also very different; as at the end of the race it wasn’t just Hamilton they were all talking about, but also Robert Kubica.

An eventful and action-packed Grand Prix was held yesterday where anything and everything, from the expected to the unexpected happened. There were several accidents took place throughout the race, but none of which were of a comparable degree as that of the BMW Sauber’s Driver, Robert Kubica.

71 Year old Japanese Oldest To Reach Everest Peak

If you’ve thought about what you’d be 20 or 50 years from now, what do you think you’d be doing? For sure it won’t be something like what Katsusuke Yanagisawa did at 71 because he just set a new record as the oldest man to conquer Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Yanagisawa is a retired Japanese school teacher who was able to set this new record last Tuesday May 22. It’s an incredible feat that a man of his age is still able to accomplish what even the younger ones find hard to do.

Former Basketball Star Howard Porter Dies

Howard Porter, one of the considered icons in basketball died last Saturday night as a result of the beating he has suffered one week before. Howard Porter is one of the best players in Villanova history. Porter became well known by being a three-time All-American awardee at Villanova. In 1971 he also fronted the Wildcats to the 1971 NCAA championship game where they lost to the UCLA. The Chicago Bulls also recruited him in 1971 where he spent 3 seasons and then later played with the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons. Andjust when his career in basketball became so promising, everything slipped away when he began to use drugs.

New World Records Set at the FINA World Championships

Setting a new world record is not a trivial matter. It takes a lot of hard work and determination. This is what transpired recently in the FINA World Championships. Wiped out during the swimming championship were not just one but four world records that were previously thought to last for several years still. But hey no, the new record setters were three Americans and an Italian. Americans were Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and Aaron Peirsol; Federica Pellegrini from Italy.

Boxing champ Mike Tyson is known for being a trouble maker ... This time he got arrested for Driving Under the Influence & for drug possession!
Tyson was arrested in Arizona this morning after leaving a nightclub ... He was pulled over after his car nearly struck a sheriff's vehicle while leaving the club at about 1.45 am. Tyson was placed under arrest after 'showing more signs of impairment' during the field sobriety test. Police then found cocaine in his car & on him!

The two unlikely football teams made it into the final spot of the Asian Games in Qatar! Iraq and Qatar.
They’re both headed for a battle of the best on Friday for an all-Arab final when they meet for the cup!
Qatar entered the knock out round after a brilliant performance by Uruguayan-born Sebastian Soria in a 2-0 win over defending champions Iran, granting them their first spot in the finals.

Watch Out for Laila Ali’s Saturday Bout

At present, boxing is now considered as one of the greatest sport. This is very evident in the recent bouts among excellent fighters. Its popularity has gained a lot of following. But that’s only usually about a boxing ring that men dominate. Maybe you’re tired of watching men deliver the punches on the ring. Well now after 35 years the name Ali will once again highlight the Madison Square Garden ring. This Saturday Muhammad Ali’s youngest daughter, Laila Ali will be one fighting in the heavyweight championship card. She is at present the most popular woman boxer in the world, garnering 22 wins, 19 knockouts and no losses in her 7 years in the boxing industry. Once again she’ll be showing her all in the bout with Saturday night opponent Shelley Burton who has a record of 8-2-1 since she’s made it pro in 2003.

Qatar Bids to Host 2016 Olympics

Although 2016 seems a long time away, countries have already started to bid for hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics. The host city of 2016 will be announced in Copenhagen in 2009.
One hopeful country is Qatar.

Although many believe it will be in North America, some think that other countries may be able to impress the judges due to the speed of their development. Areas like, South America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East have never hosted the Olympics before but some 'rising star' countries might be able to change that.

The Patriots Takes Over Monday’s Game

The Patriots wins against the Minnesota Vikings with quarterback Tom Brady leading the team to 31-7 tally on Monday night. Tom Brady dominated the game with several touchdowns to four different receivers.

During the game his defense had four interceptions and four sacks. Needless to say that this game can be considered as one of the highlights in Tom Brady’s football career now as New England’s quarterback. Last Monday was spectacular show of both the defense and quarterback.

George Steinbrenner is now back on his feet after having a health scare last Sunday while attending his granddaughter’s, Haley Swindal’s performance in the lead role of “Cabaret” at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.

This is actually the second time that the 76-year-old Yankees owner had a public incident regarding his health. The first one was back in 2003 where he passed out during the funeral of the famous football player Otto Graham.

Trevor Berbick’s Violent Death

Trevor Berbick died a violent death that some say mirrored the way he lived his life. His body was found at 6:30 am in a churchyard at a village in Norwich, Jamaica. Based on the police report, Berbick appeared to have died from a massive cut to his head, which was probably caused by a machete. Reports have it, that he was last seen at a party earlier on the night of his death.

Lovers of boxing would almost certainly remember Trevor Berbick, the man who beat the great Muhammad Ali in the ring back in 1981. And 5 years after his win against Ali, he became the bearer of the World Boxing Council heavyweight title after beating Pinklon Thomas in the ring. In the whole duration of his career as a boxer he was able to garner a total of 50 wins including the 33 knockouts, 11 defeats and 1 draw. He was also the representative of his native country Jamaica 1976 Olympics, which was held in Montreal.

Statue for Maradona

In the Boca Juniors museum in Buenos Aires a 3-meter statue of bronze and cement will stand in honor of Argentinean soccer legend Diego Maradona. The cost of the statue will be on the burden of "fans" from all around the world. The idea to build the 300KG statue came from four friends who launched a website to campaign for the statue. Now they've done it.

What’s the deal with Beckham?

It’s not the best of times for English football legend David Beckham. He didn’t do well in the World Cup, he’s not on the English National team anymore thanks to new manager Steve McLaren and his Spanish club, Real Madrid hasn’t given him a regular position on the team.
There is some talk about his retirement circulating here and there although he’s said nothing of it.
Real Madrid president, Ramon Calderon, said that the former England captain will quit in two years. A claim that Beckham's spokesman dismissed.

"As far as I know he has decided to retire in two years' time," Calderon told BBC Radio Five Live.

Michael Schumacher to Retire

Famous German Formula One driver Micheal Schumacher has announced that he will retire from the fast sport at the end of this season.
Schumacher began kart racing at the age of four and a half & obtained his first license and began racing competitively by the age of twelve.
He made his Formula One debut with the Jordan-Ford team at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix as a replacement driver for the imprisoned Bertrand Gachot.

Shortly after the B sample test result of the awarded 2006 Tour de France winner Floyd Landis confirmed the previous result that said he had abnormally high levels of testosterone in his body during the competition’s stage 17, his cycling team Phonak will soon disband. Although there are other factors involved in the decision, doping allegation against Landis was “the deciding factor.” Phonak Cycling Team owner Andy Rihs said that he is “bitterly disappointed” that cycling is now associated with doping.

The French and Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane will quit playing after this year's World Cup finals in Germany and he also stated that he will not play with his club for another year.
"I didn't make this decision overnight. It's one I've mulled over for a long time..." Zinedine Zidane told a news conference in Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane helped France win their first World Cup title after he scored twice against Brazil ending the result 3-0. Two years later, he led France to the European Championship and was voted the country's most popular personality in a poll by newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.
Zidan and Real Madrid club are working on a plan which would see him remain at the club to coach children.

British Football Legend George Best Dies

Former Manchester United and Northern Ireland football legend George Best, died today aged 59 in London's Cromwell Hospital after a long and very valiant fight.

George Best was born in Belfast, Best played for United from 1963 to 1974 and his finest hour came in 1968 when the Red Devils became the first English club to win the European Cup.

Best made 180 goals in 474 appearances for United and also won two league championships, in 1965 and 1967.

A statement from United read: "George Best was one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Germany's Adidas is going to buy U.S. Reebok for $3.8 billion, closing in on Nike and promising a profit jump by expanding in the United States and entering new markets around the world.
The combination will create a strong competitor to battle Nike's dominance of the market for athletic wear, particularly in the United States.
The takeover combines Adidas's strengths in Europe with Reebok's strong position in the United States.

Russian tennis player Anastasia Myskina cannot stop a photographer from distributing her topless pictures taken during a 2002 magazine photo session three years ago, a federal judge has ruled and wrote that Anastasia Myskina's rights were not violated when topless photographs were published in a Russian magazine with an article weeks after she won the 2004 French Open.

Myskina was 20 years old when the photographs were taken by Mark Seliger and insisted she did not understand a photo release form with her signature on it and was not fluent in English at the time.

First America´s Cup in Europe

America’s Cup

Three new countries will be participating for the first time in Americ´s Cup, these countries are: South Africa, Germany and China. Five continents are represented, reinforcing the global appeal of the America’s Cup.

There were 13 challengers from six countries in Australia in 1987 and 11 challengers from seven countries in 1999 in Auckland. This year 11 challengers representing nine countries will be participating in the first America’s Cup in Europe.

New Arab-American characters

WWE recently introduced two new Arab-American characters on a Monday Night RAW. Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari are U.S. citizens who have grown up in America.

They love their country. However, they will face now a new and different kind of relationship with their fellow U.S. citizens as a result of being Arab-American in a United States still struggling with the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

RAW will explore the challenges Hassan and Daivari face as Hassan tries to make his mark as a new WWE Superstar under the guidance of Daivari as his manager.
