Maria Sharapova lost to 18-year old Polish player Agnieska Radwanska in last Saturday’s US Open Championship. It was at the Arthur Ashe Stadium that Maria Sharapova submitted defeat to the 18-year-old Agnieszka Radwanska with the 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 score. Sharapova had a good start but in the next sets Radwanska dominated the game. This might be her embarrassing defeat yet but Sharapova shows character, as she offers no excuses for it. She was defeated in the game and that was that. It simply was not a good year for her.

Her statement after the match, “I could blame the wind and blame my opponent. But there are no excuses…I’m not going to throw myself a pity party.”

If you will recall, Sharapova had all the wins she could wish for in the previous year. But this year she only came up to the final in Australia. And she also has a shoulder injury to deal maybe that also took away some of her stamina for the game.
