Maria Sharapova's Wimbledon match yesterday with Japan's Ai Sugiyama was delayed for 4 hours because of heavy rain.
But that didn't stop Sharapova from beating the rain & her Japanese opponent!
Not only that, but Sharapova also defeated a horrible shoulder injury.
Sharapova defeated Sugiyama in a very wet match 6-3, 6-3.
Sharapova said: "It's just a weird situation, because you know the rain is coming. You're just thinking you might be a match point up and you have to go and wait to finish the match. It's a little bit of a tense moment."

She also said: "I was starting to get agitated. I saw the rain in the middle of the second set, and I knew, if it keeps going, obviously the grass is going to get wet. I didn't want it to be too dangerous to play out there. But it worked out well in the end."

This win will supposedly lead to a Sharapova-Williams match ... but Venus Williams will have to beat Akiko Morigami of Japan.
