Lewis Hamilton earned his number one place in his debut Montreal race in the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Everyone was talking about him with full enthusiasm, happiness and admiration. But the mood was also very different; as at the end of the race it wasn’t just Hamilton they were all talking about, but also Robert Kubica.
An eventful and action-packed Grand Prix was held yesterday where anything and everything, from the expected to the unexpected happened. There were several accidents took place throughout the race, but none of which were of a comparable degree as that of the BMW Sauber’s Driver, Robert Kubica.
The BMW Sauber Driver made contact with Toyota’s Jarno Trulli from behind on the 27th lap at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve when approaching the hairpin causing him to go off the track. Hitting a bump in the grass, unable to brake of steer the car as it was raised into the air. Shattering head-on into the inside concrete wall of the hairpin with maximum velocity of 180 mph; due to the large impact debris and large pieces was thrown over a large area like confetti, spinning, rolling, sliding back across the track generating a trail of heavy smoke. All came to an end as it rested against the guardrail with nothing more than the monocoque intact of the car left.

For a few apprehensive minutes, which seemed to last so long, Kubica sat there helplessly…not making any form of movement.
An absolutely horrific accident.
Incredibly, the 22-year-old Polish driver escaped major injuries. Removed from the car and transmitted to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve’s Medical Centre, Kubica reduced the worry and anxiety in the air as he was able to speak to his manager. A positive indication that he was awake, but the Medical Group stated that he had lost consciousness temporarily at the moment of impact. For further checks he was airlifted to Montreal's Sacre Coeur Hospital.
With reports suggesting different results the picture remains unclear: some suggested that he had suffered a broken leg or ankle, some claim that he suffered light trauma to the brain alongside a sprained ankle. Doctors commented that they will analyse his condition early Monday morning to determine if Robert is viable for release. Others claim, later on reports suggested that he is expeceted to be released from hospital the following day.
What is really happening? Stay tuned for updates.
