Paolo (born on the 26th June 1968 in Milan, Italy) is the son of Cesare Maldini, a former Italian football player and coach. Therefore the talent runs in the family. Paolo is the living proof of the fact that it is true when they say, “like father, like son” because in 2003 Paolo captained AC Milan to the UEFA Cup Championship back in 2003; which happens to be 40 years after his father reached the same achievement.
Maldini is regarded as one of the best Italian players in the era and is recognized internationally for his unquestionable talent. His outstanding achievements speak for itself, including World Player of the Year Award. A man with fantastic captaincy, brilliant capability to play both by feet and defence, his sharp and well-timed attacking runs, his ice-cool nature and very grounded has his name recognized at a World Class Player.

With all these qualities there has been many talks running through the mouths’ of people, all asking the same question: “Is it over for Maldini?”
With Maldini approaching his 39th Birthday next month, and the worrying knee operation (add “that he will undergo during Summer due to the failure of recovering from a continual knee injury“); has made the question last a while among the people.

“The UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool FC will not be Paolo Maldini’s last match as many football fans had feared. The AC Milan captain has decided to play on for another season, his 24th wearing the No3 shirt for the Rossoneri. When Maldini does retire in 2008, the club will keep his shirt for safe-keeping, guarding it in the hope of returning it to the family one day if his son Christian, the promising grandson of former Milan captain Cesare Maldini, breaks into the first team. Paolo, 38, spoke with uefa.com about Milan’s family dynasty and his hopes and expectations for his eighth European Champion Clubs’ Cup final.”
