Laureus World Sportsman of the Year,
Firstly, I don't really categories golf as a sport because it does not challenges you physically. So sorry to say, that scores out Tiger wood.
Whereas tennis, that is one true sport that challenges you physically, and mentally.
Roger Federer:
He is such a naturally incredible player. Everytime, the French Open or Wimbeldon in on the TV, there is always one member of the family who calls out "Federer!".
And before you know it, we're all sitting at the front of the TV. He's always a delight to watch. You're always guaranteed that you will see a top-quality game, simply because of his presence. It's as though that game has a completely different atmosphere in comparison to any other that you watch.
The one thing I love the most about him, is his character.
The more awards and titles that he wins, the more grounded and relaxed he becomes. He's such a simple, genuine and well-mannered gentleman.
Sometimes, I think he doesn't know how good he is.
Definitely would love to see him win.
Fabio Cannavaro:
So small in size, but big in skill. He's maintained a constant and brilliant performance throughout FIFA. When he would team up with Del Piero, they would produce some smart and clever moves. He always keeps his cool in a match, and doesn't have a go at anyone. Since it is his priority, he focuses and keeps his mind on the game, and not let the mouth do much, like that of Matzerrati!
One who stands a good chance of winning the title.
Michael Schumacher:
If there is anything I would love to try out, it would be what this guy does for a living. Everytime Schumacher sits behind the wheel, it is guaranteed that he will do really well because most of the time he gets the No. 1 spot.
But, I don't see how this year is very different from the previous year.
I'm not saying that he's not capable, because he truly is. But, there are others in that category that deserve it more.
... continuing...
Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year,
Laure Manaudou,
I don't really know much about her, but I do remember watching her in the European Championships; and was thinking "she's really good". She's such a great swimmer. Ever movement has an extra energy in comparison to those around her. She really did work hard, and gave it her all.
Why am I saying this, she's got 4 gold medals to prove that?! :)
Amélie Mauresmo,
Another tennis player, who happens to be of a very different type in comparison to Federer. She's more aggressive when on court. You can see that by the way that she clenches her hand and yells when she wins a point. She is not afraid to come forward and attck. That's where her strength is, attacking. She has no problem figuring out her opponent. Once she does, she can trick them every now and again. Smart player :)
She was really good watching during wimbeldon because she stepped up a level ever since she stepped foot on the grounds of Wimbeldon.
She stands a good chance of winning.
Maria Sharapova,
My favourite female tennis player. I love her simplicity and energy. The fact that her and her father had been through so much in the past, she entered the tennis world with the lights shone above her. It was such an incredible achievement to reach the level in which you are playing against the best in the world.
Her story got her a lot of attention from the media and the people.
She obviously nows a thing or two about hardship because when she is on the court, she doesn't give up. She keeps fighting back. Her on-going determination is primarily what keeps her energy level constant throughout a game.
She's a fighter. She puts her mind to the game, plays with strength and mind.
She too stands a good chance on winning.
Wow. I have written a lot! I have only commented on the ones that I know of, just imagine what it would be like if I knew about all of them! -haha
But what can I say? I love sports :)
