The National tennis federation in Russia announced Maria Sharapova and Nikolay Davydenko as the country's best players for the second year in a row! It seems that nothing can stop the wonderful Sharapova as she beat Svetlana Kuznetsova and Nadia Petrova for the top prize in the French open.

There are now 7 Russian women in the world's top 16! That means that almost half of the best few women tennis players in the world are Russian!

Now whatever you think of the Russian golden girl, you can't deny her achievements. She won 5 titles this year, including the US Open!
So on the court, it's her backhand doing the winning. And off the court her stunning looks and short skirt will do the talking in front of the camera.
What a combination!
The beauty is now number 2 in the world, just falling behind Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne.
