Trevor Berbick

Trevor Berbick died a violent death that some say mirrored the way he lived his life. His body was found at 6:30 am in a churchyard at a village in Norwich, Jamaica. Based on the police report, Berbick appeared to have died from a massive cut to his head, which was probably caused by a machete. Reports have it, that he was last seen at a party earlier on the night of his death.

Lovers of boxing would almost certainly remember Trevor Berbick, the man who beat the great Muhammad Ali in the ring back in 1981. And 5 years after his win against Ali, he became the bearer of the World Boxing Council heavyweight title after beating Pinklon Thomas in the ring. In the whole duration of his career as a boxer he was able to garner a total of 50 wins including the 33 knockouts, 11 defeats and 1 draw. He was also the representative of his native country Jamaica 1976 Olympics, which was held in Montreal.

But even with his excellence in the sport, he lost his credence among the people because of his criminal problems. Due to several and repeated run-in with the law, he was deported from the US twice, the second time was when he was sent to home to Jamaica. The last kind of work he did before he died was to help train aspiring boxers. Because of his death six children from his two marriages are left fatherless.
