Tiger Woods

“This is sweet, really sweet,” Tiger Woods said after winning his 12th major title at the season’s final major, the 2006 PGA Championship held at the Medinah Country Club. This victory is Tiger Wood’s third PGA Championship victory and second on the said course, the first was in 1999. Woods defeated Shaun Micheel just by five strokes and with a score of 18 under par.

A month ago, Tiger Woods earned his 11th major win at the British Open. With this PGA Championship victory, Woods made him a step closer to the top of the all-time list of golfers where he shortly stayed on No. 2 spot together with Walter Hagen after winning the British Open. Now he solely holds the second rank, next to the legendary Jack Nicklaus, Woods’ childhood idol.

Jack Nicklaus won 18 professional major titles and won his 12th at 33 while Woods wins his 12th only at 30. It is very likely that Woods will soon surpass his idol’s accomplishment, but he said “It's still a long way away…It's not something I could get next year.” “It took Jack over 20 years to get to his. It's going to take a career and I've just got to keep plugging along and keep trying to win these things,” Woods added.
