Despite the doping scandal 2006 Tour de France winner Floyd Landis is facing, people in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, his hometown, are going to honor him on Wednesday at the commissioners’ board meeting. Parents of Landis will be there to receive the honors for him. Syas Dick Shellenberger, chairman of the Lancaster County commissioners says that they recognize Landis participation and victory in such a prestigious international sports event. For the people of Lancaster, it’s an honor to win the Tour de France competition.

Floyd Landis rides for Phonak team and was proclaimed winner of the 2006 Tour de France competition held from July 1 – 23. The three-week 3,6571-km race commenced in Strasbourg and concluded in Paris. Landis gained much praises after winning stage 17, one of the toughest rides in Tour de France. He got the chance to wear the yellow jersey after stages 11, 12, 15, 19 and ultimately, after the final stage, making him the owner of the much coveted title in the world of cycling. But the results of the 2006 Tour de France might change in favor of Spanish cyclist Oscar Pereiro Sio if results of the B test reveal Landis did cheat in the competition.
