Serena Williams

It seems like former world no. 1 tennis player Serena Williams never took a break in playing tennis for several months after showing us her focus and impressive strength last Tuesday in the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open when she defeated no. 2 seed Anastasia Myskina 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the tournament. Serena finished the game in barely an hour, which was really remarkable considering that it’s her first match in six months.

Serena left the tennis scene after getting injured in the Australian Open. In the third round of the competition, Serena lost her title as the Australian Open champion to Slovak player Daniela Hantuchova. Her absence in the tennis arena caused her to land at rank no. 139, her lowest ranking since she became a professional tennis player. Indeed, Serena has a very good reason to climb up the rungs of success once again. As she said, “it's devastating” to be at this very low position, adding that she has nowhere else to go but up.
