Frank Schleck Wins L'Alpe d'Huez Stage

It’s no ordinary victory for the 26-year old CSC rider Frank Schleck. Today he wins the most famous mountain climbs in cycling, the L’Alpe d’Huez. At the same time, his stage victory makes him the first cyclist from Luxemburg to win Tour de France’s most celebrated stage. Schleck finished the 187km-ride from Gap and to L'Alpe d'Huez in 4 hours, 52 minutes and 22 seconds, averaging at 38.38 kph.

On the other hand, American Floyd Landis gets to wear the yellow jersey again after finishing the Stage 15 in four hours, 53 minutes and 32 seconds, just 1 minute and 10 seconds behind Schleck, Cunego and Garzelli. Landis who rides for the Swiss team Phonak wears the prestigious yellow jersey again after getting a chance to wear it last July 13 on the 11th stage of the competition. Trailing behind Landis in the Overall ranking are Oscar Pereiro Sio of Caisse d'Epargne, Cyril Dessel of Ag2r Prevoyance, Denis Menchov of Rabobank, and Carlos Sastre of CSC.
