Numbers

There is no stopping the rise of the popularity of the Internet. It is true as evidenced by the facts and figure gathered by the Internet research firm comScore. Their research findings show that in the month of May alone the total online population worldwide is 772 million – a figure that is about 16% of the world inhabitants. This number has been collated from the different search engines – Google being the top grosser claiming 70% of the total Internet user. In the date collected by comScore the three best sites are Google, Microsoft and Yahoo – each of them having more than 20 visits per visitor.

Some of the other fastest growing sites on the net are Apple and Facebook. Apple’s rise in visitors is attributed to the news frenzy over the much-coveted iPhone. Facebook is a social networking site that is fast gaining unique visitors that in May alone increased traffic by 22 percent or with 42 million unique users.
