With much focus on Sony's PS3 release, we've forgotten to take a look at the most likely champion of the consoles. Nintendo Wii has sold over 600,000 units in only 8 days!
That's 75,000 a day or 3125 an hour or 52 a minute!!!!! (On an average scale of course)
The decisive factor was probably due to two things:
1- It's low cost in comparison to PS3s. Wii costs $250 which is about half the price of a PS3 even after discount!
2- There were simply more units to sell.

"We've shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time -- and we still sold out," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement.

I guess the first rule of business is: “supply and demand.” Nintendo has them both!
