How do you really know he does not love you anymore?
Example: He lives 2.5 hrs away, I used to go there any time I wanted, until he bought a home and said this is the first time he had ever bought a home without a wife.
Calls don't come that much anymore but when I am there on my weekends off he is very attentive to me and my needs.

It seems this is a case of “he’s more confused than you are.”
Men get confused quickly and don’t like the feeling of attachments. This is the general view but not necessarily the case always.
I think this man wants an “on and off” relationship. Sometimes men want to be with a woman but don’t want to commit. I think when he’s with you, his feelings of confusion are gone and things seem fine. I think when you’re apart, then the confusion returns.

My suggestion would be a “full open heart surgery” a heart to heart talk.
You need to get out of this confusion out of your and his heads once and for all.
Sit down and talk about it. See where you stand. There’s no point in wasting time with an on and off relationship. You deserve the whole nine yards.
Don’t settle for less.

But if you want to know if someone stops loving you totally, I think it might not be so easy since once in love, people don’t hate each other if the break up wasn’t painful. Some feelings of love, sentiments and memories never do die completely. If you really need to know, then stay apart for a long time. Don’t call, don’t text, don’t e-mail and don’t see each other in any way, shape or form. If one of you cracks, then you know you haven’t stopped loving.
