Kitchen: Desserts

pumpkin pie

Sorry for not posting any recipes for some time now, but this season i get really busy ... but i came back with a great recipe for this time of year; Pumpkin Pie.
The best dessert for this season is the famous Pumpkin Pie ... Why? i am not sure, but maybe because it is baked and smooth ... gives you that warm feeling in the tummy that drives the cold away.

Here is a traditional recipe that you will love:

One of the very delicate and smooth desserts in the Arab world is the simple Arabic Pudding called 'Kishk El Fuara'.
It is something like the well known 'Muhallabia', but with a tad bit of a difference.
It is so easy to make, and will be yummy to all tastes.

This is a very delicious dessert, using non other than fresh dates. It might sound a bit fatty, but it isn’t eaten every day, and is so yummy that you wouldn’t actually care if it were fatty or not! The cardamom will give this simple dessert the sophisticated taste of Arabia!
Enjoy!

P.S.
I am going to make this tonight … hmmm!

Qatayef

Arabic Sweets are a delicacy, and some of them are extremely special that they are eaten only once a year!
During the holy month of Ramadan, Arabic sweets are an essential part of the evening in every house.
Layali Libnan, Kishk El Fuara, Um Ali, Baklawa, and most importantly, Qatayef!
These are pancake like things that are filled with either cheese or nuts and are fried in oil, or grilled in the oven, then they are dropped in cold sugar syrup for a final touch.
I want to thank Abeer for sending her mom’s recipe, which I guarantee that you will like.

baklawa

One of the most delicious specialty desserts in the Middle East, particularly in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, is the famous Baklava, which is originally called “Baklawa”.
It is a sweet made up of thin dough, crushed nuts, lots of butter and sugar syrup, and baked in the oven.
The smell that starts creeping around the house while being baked is unbelievably scrumptious, and the actual taste of the Baklawa is delightful.
Making this sweet may take up a bit of your time, but every minute is worth it!

chocolate pudding

Chocolate is the craze that never ends, and there are new recipes popping up every day for those chocolate lovers all over the world to try.
One of the recipes that made my husband faint after tasting it, is a baked chocolate pudding-like thingy, that is absolutely mouth watering.
You have to use Pyrex small bowls or ceramic ovenproof pots.

banana treat icecream

This dessert is a "hit" with kids and grown-ups alike.
It is easy to make, and is De-licious!

Ingredients:

Chocolate to melt
12 wooden pop sticks
6 small bananas, peeled, cut in half
2 cups of your favorite cereal

brownies

Hmmm, Brownies. My husband is the biggest Brownie fan in the world! And I don’t blame him; chocolate and nuts go very well together, especially when the resulting dough is soft. Yummy!

The following recipe is easy and fun for all the family…

Easy strawberry cake

One of my favorite desserts is Strawberry Cake. the combination of white and red is so appealing, and the taste is angelic!
this recipe in particular is easy, because i use the ordinary white cake mix "which is found at the supermarket" ... so there is no hassel when it comes to makeing the dough!

ice cream

One of my favorite desserts in summer is the one and only Ice Cream!
You can do millions of things with simple ingredients ... and you can do that to your favorite ice cream flavor.

This is a recipe that makes simple vanilla ice cream a sophisticated dessert!
