This is a very delicious dessert, using non other than fresh dates. It might sound a bit fatty, but it isn’t eaten every day, and is so yummy that you wouldn’t actually care if it were fatty or not! The cardamom will give this simple dessert the sophisticated taste of Arabia!
Enjoy!

P.S.
I am going to make this tonight … hmmm!

½ kilo fresh dates
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. flour
1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Remove pits from the dates and arrange in 4 small serving bowls.
Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly, until the flour turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn it.
Remove the flour mixture from the heat and stir in the cardamom. Allow to cool slightly, and while still warm pour over the dates and allow to cool to room temperature before serving.

Dearest Hana...
the Ramadan date dessert seems to be yummy.. but should we leave the dates on their form??
i mean shouldn't we prepare them as a thick date dough?! like 3ajweh?!
that recipe reminded me of the "date filled" cookies I ate once.. I'll try to get the recipe.. they were sooo good :)

Dear Abeer,
Thank you for commenting and asking such a good question.
Well, the thing is, Ajweh tastes different that the dates as a whole fruit ... and the idea is to get the dessert looking like some sort of simple mono-fruit-salad ;)-
Use the light colored dates for this recipe, and not the really dark ones ... beacuse they too taste different ...
Bon Appetite
