taco salad

We have gotten used to eating tacos like a sandwich; a taco shell filled with delicious spicy minced meat, crunchy lettuce and sweet water filled tomatoes. hmm … hmm … But why not transform this taco dish into a salad that a few people can share and enjoy?

This is the ultimate taco salad, that is perfect for friends and family gatherings over a movie, or a garden party or an ordinary bash … try it, you wont regret it at all!

Our usual Taco shell is stuffed with spiced minced beef, lettuce, tomatoes, red beans, cheddar cheese and topped with salsa or sour cream, but the salad is a tad bit different.

Ingredients:

1 can red kidney beans, drained
1 iceberg lettuce, torn
1 tomato, diced
1 pepper, chopped fine
1 finely chopped onion
1 pkg. taco seasoning (you can find this at the superstore)
½ kilo browned minced meat
1 big bag taco chips or nacho’s like Dorito’s (as an example)
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

Add the seasoning and a bit of water to the meat and heat on a low fire, until thickened. Toss lettuce, onion, pepper, tomatoes, beans and chips all together. Top with meat, and cheddar cheese. And serve immediately … yummy!
