Honey is Good for Kids Cough

The Magic of Honey

Cold and cough can be a great hassle on grown ups. On my part, I can never sleep well when I have them. So what more if the one who suffers from it is the child? When a child gets a cough the usual remedy is over the counter cough syrup or some other. But as parents you probably know that these medicines are sometimes not good for them, especially for the very young ones. A study states that one good alternative for your kid’s cough is no other than honey. Yes honey! A teaspoon of this delicious brew can bring a soothing effect on your child’s throat. But there’s a warning though, honey should not be administered to children below 1 year old because of the threat of botulism.

Don’t Act Primitive; Get Enough Sleep

Being cranky and irritable after a disturbed night is already a common thing. But aside from this, researchers over at the University of California Berkeley found out that lack of sleep also leads to primitive behavior. Under the leadership of Matthew Walker, the researchers studied the patterns of the brain of the people who participated in the study before and after they were deprived of sleep. When deprived of sleep the activity of the brain gets redirected from the rational cortex to the amygdala, which is also referred to as the “fear center”.

Tea Keeps You in the Pink of Health

Tea

It has long been known that tea is packed with antioxidants needed by our body to neutralize free radicals that damage important cellular molecules, but recent study shows that tea has more health benefits and that drinking lots of tea everyday is better than drinking glasses of water. Like water, researchers from UK found out that tea rehydrates our body contrary to earlier studies that said that drinks containing caffeine, like tea, can dehydrate the body. Dr. Ruxton, one of the researchers, said that even a strong cup of tea could help replace fluid in the body.

Eat Fish and Save Your Eyes

Eat Fish and Save Your Eyes

A new study that was conducted by researchers from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston shows that eating fish can prevent “age-related macular degeneration (AMD)” or common blindness among the elderly. While it was also found out that smoking doubles the risk of getting blind later in life, those who eat fish at the same time are less likely to have macular degeneration, a condition where one’s vision gets blurred and is eventually lost after as he gets older, usually around the age of 60. Watch Your Antibiotics !

antibiotics

When you take an Antibiotic, what do you wash it down with? Water, Milk, Juice?
Well, they're not the same! You have to be very careful what you take with your Antibiotic because some things can do you more harm than good!
Believe it or not, taking anything that contains calcium down with your Antibiotic will interfere with the work of the medicin.
To get the most from your Antibiotics, wait two hours before consuming anything that's rich in calcium, which means milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream & orange juice!
Always wash down your pills with water, it's the safest thing & doesn't contradict with any sort of medicin.

Silence is good for your heart

loud noise

Loud & annoying noises may be bad for your ears, but get this, they are also bad for your heart!
Being exposed to screaming children, honking cars & the construction site next door can make stress levels so high and heart health so low!
If you live or work down-town, it would be a good idea to take some quiet time for yourself every day; take a warm bath, a long walk in nature, walk the dog, or sit in a calm room & read your favorite book.
As for how loud is too loud, here are a bit of numbers:
70 or 80 decibels, like a vacuum cleaner, can damage your hearing! Less than that can cause cardiac stress!
So be careful, and enjoy any tranquil time you find!
