Health: Tips

We all lead busy lives. Sometimes my day gets so fully booked that the only time I sit for a proper meal is way too late... bedtime!
So, you've finally sat home after a long hard day and want something to eat and at this point you're so tired and hungry you're not thinking about what kind of food will keep you tossing and turning all night.
When this happens...stop! Put down that burger and read on!

There are many kinds of foods that can keep you up all night and if not, they'll take away that good night's rest!
1- Coffee or caffeine related products! We know that we shouldn't drink coffee at night anyway, but caffeine can also be found in places other than coffee, like chocolate and Coca-Cola!

Tea

It has long been known that tea is packed with antioxidants needed by our body to neutralize free radicals that damage important cellular molecules, but recent study shows that tea has more health benefits and that drinking lots of tea everyday is better than drinking glasses of water. Like water, researchers from UK found out that tea rehydrates our body contrary to earlier studies that said that drinks containing caffeine, like tea, can dehydrate the body. Dr. Ruxton, one of the researchers, said that even a strong cup of tea could help replace fluid in the body.

Meditation

Have you ever felt physically, emotionally and mentally jaded? Maybe you’re moving way too fast that you never have time to sit back, relax and breathe deeply. Take it slow, there’s time for everything. Try mediation, it’s a good way to achieve harmony of mind, body and spirit. All you have to do is to allot a little of your time each day to for contemplation. I bet after trying it even for just a week, you’ll already see changes taking place in your life.

To help you start, here are simple meditating tips for you:

How Big Is Your Plate?

Trying to lose weight by eating less? It may be pretty hard I suppose especially if you’re fond of eating sweets. I bet just the thought of mouthwatering ice creams, sundaes, cakes, cookies, tarts, pies, milkshake, and the like make you rush to the fridge or to the store to get something to curb your cravings for sweets and desserts. I know because I too, love sweets! They’re too tempting and there are times, you cannot just resist them even when you try so hard to maintain a healthy no-sugar diet.

Enhance Your Memory, Have Enough Sleep!

Okay, you have “valid” reasons for staying up late—you’re not playing computer games or chatting with a friend but just studying—exams is near and you got lots to read. It’s good that you care enough to study for your exams but don’t get mad at your mom when she sends you to bed even when you’re not yet too tired or sleepy because sleep might just be the reason why you keep on forgetting important pieces of information you need to pass your tests.

Eat Fish and Save Your Eyes

That’s right, eat fish and save your eyes! A new study that was conducted by researchers from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston shows that eating fish can prevent “age-related macular degeneration (AMD)” or common blindness among the elderly. While it was also found out that smoking doubles the risk of getting blind later in life, those who eat fish at the same time are less likely to have macular degeneration, a condition where one’s vision gets blurred and is eventually lost after as he gets older, usually around the age of 60. Those—that is, including smokers—who eat two or more servings of fish every week are less likely to develop common blindness.

call center

Business process outsourcing is a booming industry in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. Every year, thousands are hired in companies such as call centers that usually cater to clients in Europe and the US.

Although call center jobs are typically highly rewarding—financial speaking, there are some drawbacks, too. For one, employees are required to work in graveyard shift, which is undoubtedly not good for the health. Working at night is not only physically challenging but it can be mentally burdensome too since one may not have enough sleep to keep him physically active and mentally “awake.”

If you’re working in a graveyard shift or suffering sleeping difficulties that of a call center agent, check out these tips and suggestions:

antibiotics

When you take an Antibiotic, what do you wash it down with? Water, Milk, Juice?
Well, they're not the same! You have to be very careful what you take with your Antibiotic because some things can do you more harm than good!
Believe it or not, taking anything that contains calcium down with your Antibiotic will interfere with the work of the medicin.
To get the most from your Antibiotics, wait two hours before consuming anything that's rich in calcium, which means milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream & orange juice!
Always wash down your pills with water, it's the safest thing & doesn't contradict with any sort of medicin.

loud noise

Loud & annoying noises may be bad for your ears, but get this, they are also bad for your heart!
Being exposed to screaming children, honking cars & the construction site next door can make stress levels so high and heart health so low!
If you live or work down-town, it would be a good idea to take some quiet time for yourself every day; take a warm bath, a long walk in nature, walk the dog, or sit in a calm room & read your favorite book.
As for how loud is too loud, here are a bit of numbers:
70 or 80 decibels, like a vacuum cleaner, can damage your hearing! Less than that can cause cardiac stress!
So be careful, and enjoy any tranquil time you find!

smiley face

Always look on the bright side and try to be the biggest optimist you can.
An optimistic attitude can help you avoid illness, believe it or not!
Thinking positively about everything can help keep you feeling strong and steady through-out your life.
If you have the flu, try to be funny and think positively about the 3 days you're taking off, try to get the best out of these days and you will definitely feel better faster and will be back on your feet in no time and with a big smile on your face as well.
Never feel that you're smiling too much, or that you're being too positive about anything! That's the way everyone should go through life!

herbal tea

If you are having trouble sleeping and your mind is busy when it should be relaxing, just have a cup of herbal mellow mood tea before you go to bed, and you'll sleep like a baby!
Mellow Mood tea is made up of herbs that relax the body & mind, giving you the opportunity to have a good sleep, and recharge your energy.

Here is the recipe, try it & you wont regret it:

When having a big decision to make, you may feel confused, or hesitant in choosing the right thing to do. But it seems if you let your unconscious mind do the choosing for you, you’d be happy!
Allowing your unconscious mind to help in decision making, means that you’ll worry about the whole situation less, thus your mind will be relaxed as it chooses the right thing!

If you're too busy, or even too lazy to do a bit of exercising during the day, then this tip will be to your liking!
Just when you open your eyes in the morning, and before you get out of bed, do 10 stomach crunches while lying flat on your mattress. Increase one daily until you get up to 100.
Don't worry, 100 isn't that much! Like Shakespeare once said: To climb steep hills requires slow pace at first.
And hey, a bit of sweat isn't a lot to pay for a flat stomach!

No More Cellulite - Part 1 talked about what foods you should stay away from to lessen Cellulite as part of the necessary dieting.
Part 2 is about what foods you should eat more from:

- Eat more protein: protein is an important nutrient for the healthy growth and repair of cells.
Get your protein twice a day from dairy products, lean meat and fish.

- Eat more fruits and vegetables: fruits & vegetables are important in any healthy eating programme. Eat more brightly colored varieties which are packed with antioxidants like carrots, mangoes, blueberries, kiwi fruit, peppers, spinach, tomatoes, strawberries.
A few easy ways to increase your fruit and vegetable intake: take fruit to work, ask for extra salad items at the sandwich bar, buy juices and smoothies not fizzy drinks and always order a side salad in restaurants.
