Fruit and Vegetable Benefits

Have you tried out eating Kiwi with its skin? How about juicing the banana peel? Not yet? Well maybe they are not exactly your favorite fruits. Anyway, there are still other fruits and veggies options.

3. Pineapple Ė Donít react just yet! With this fruit, you donít have to eat the skin but the core! Donít leave out the core when you cut the pineapple because it contains two times more bromelain than the flesh itself. Bromelain is an enzyme that aids digestion and protects the stomach by breaking down food easily and flashing down dead tissues in the stomach.

The pineapple core is usually soft enough to be chewed on. However if you donít like to chomp down on it, you can crush or blend it and get the juice.

4. Citrus Fruits Ė I know lots of people love oranges, lemons, and tangerines. But they usually throw away the peel and just eat whatís inside. The juice also contains antioxidants called super-flavonoids but the peel has higher concentrations of it. In fact the peel has 20 times more antioxidant content! It antioxidant helps fight off the bad LDL cholesterol.

So if you want to have a bad cholesterol free body, donít throw away all the orange peel!

5. Apple - I know a lot of people eat apples with their peel. So just a reminder, apple peel contains about 87 percent more nutrients that help fight off cancer according to a study by Corner University.

6. Potatoes Ė Potato skin is rich in nutrients like soluble fiber, potassium, iron, phosphorous zinc, and vitamin C. Just wash the whole potato thoroughly and cook with the skin on whether for mashed potato or baked.

So these are the rest of the fruits and veggies. Next time you cook or eat them, think twice about throwing away their skin or core! It will surely result to a healthier you!
