Let’s face it, as folks get older they tend to become forgetful about a lot of things among them is taking their medicines. This can be harmful for those who really need to take their maintenance medicines on time. Well, things are about to change as Novartis is designing a drug that will have a chip in it and this chip will give the patient a reminder when it’s already time for him or her to take the medicine. The company has teamed up with Proteus Biomedical for this project.
Novartis Designing Tablets with Digestible Chips
The tablet will have a chip so tiny that maybe the patient won’t even notice it’s there. In using the tablet, the patient will have to wear a miniature sensor on his shoulder. This too will have a chip that will receive the signal from the chip in the tablet. The sensor will give a signal, which according to some reports will be directed to the patient’s cellphone, to remind him that it’s that time again to take the meds. It’s also said that the chips are fully digestible.
Medicines with digestible chips eh? What do you think of this development, does it amaze you or does it freak you out?
