Do you peer in your computer for hours on end? Well, here a health warning for you. For sure you’re already aware that doing so can hurt your eyes, so this bit of warning is being made at a different angle. This time it’s about watching out for the unseen risks of the computer. According to a new research, you and especially your children are in danger of the monitor and the wires that come with the device. The statistics for tripping from the wires and getting hit in the head by a falling monitor is rising and is becoming a cause of concern.
Save Yourself from the Unseen Risks of Computers
This scenario is prevalent not only at home but also in offices according to the research. Work-at-home persons suffer when they accidentally trip over the wires on the floor. What’s worse is that sometimes it’s the children, usually under 5 years of age, that trip, fall, or get head injuries, including lacerations and cuts. Adults can handle these things, but the little ones? Not really. This should serve as a reminder for adults to position their PCs carefully.
Lara B. McKenzie, PhD, the leader of the said research, gives some tips in order to prevent these kinds of accidents in the future. One is to place computer equipment on stable furniture, away from surface edges, and away from the children’s reach. Children should be supervised if they are going anywhere near the computer.
