Health

We may all think that computer and Internet use is safe; however little do we know that this emits radiation that can be potentially harmful to health. Radiation is injurious to adults so what more with children, right? Professor Lawrie Challis, a retired professor of physics at the University of Nottingham advised that children should be properly monitored whenever they use the laptop with wi-fi network. Children using laptops in particular should not make it a habit to place the device right on their lap as this makes them all the more exposed to radiation.

As Professor Challis said, “if you put a laptop straight on your lap and are using wi-fi, you could be around two centimeters from the transmitter, and receiving comparable exposure to that from a mobile phone. Since we advise that children should be discouraged from using mobile phones, we should also discourage children from placing their laptop on their lap when they are using wi-fi.”

This issue has raised some concerns in schools that are using wi-fi networks. And evidence has yet to be presented whether it is really safe to use wi-fi networks in schools.
