Going for an occasional alcoholic drink at the bar is a very good way of unwinding after a hectic day at work. For some, just holding a glass of a favorite drink already has that calming effect on the senses. However, if you want to improve your heath while having your favorite drink, why not add some fruits on it? Or better, why not order a fruit cocktail instead of the hard liquor you usually favor? By complete chance some researchers from the Kasetsart University in Thailand and the US State Department of Agriculture Research Service accidentally found out that when you add alcohol on the colored fruit its antioxidant content is increased by several percent. Their perfect example of this is the strawberry. They found out that when the strawberries are splashed with ethanol, a property that is found in rum, vodka and tequila, its antioxidant nutrients increased. So next time you find yourself in a bar, don’t forget to have a glass of cocktail. But remember like I always say, drink moderately!
