Because of the growing concern for this kind of phenomenon a study on diet was conducted recently and it has been found out that your good old veggies and fruits can help combat the occurrence of cancer, specifically head and neck cancers. The study led by Neal Freedman involved 500, 000 American retirees, wherein he and his team followed the diet patterns of these people. They also recorded the lifestyle of all these men and women. We all know that most people have vices especially drinking alcohol and smoking, and these toxic substances increases the chance of acquiring head and neck cancers. But then increasing the consumption of fruits and vegetables can help combat this.
Dr. Freedman says, ” Increasing consumption by just one serving of fruit or vegetables per 1,000 calories per day was associated with a 6 percent reduction in head and neck cancer risk.” So if you are an alcohol drinker and a smoker to boot who does not want to die young, let your body have more doses of fresh leafy veggies and yummy-licious fruits.
