Asthma

Asthma is a disorder that you wouldn’t want to wish on anybody. Asthma patients should listen up because this is great news for you. Sufferers of asthma can now have more chance of coping even better with their condition with the newly developed treatment called bronchial thermoplasty. With this new care asthma sufferers can manage their condition for up 12 months. Bronchial thermoplasty is a drug free treatment because it only makes use f heat specifically radio waves in order to get rid of the surplus smooth muscle in the airways of patient wherein the result will be to allow them to breathe easier.
When an asthma sufferer is having an attack these sooth muscles contracts tightening the airways and making it quite difficult o breathe. In the removal of the excess smooth muscle the patient is given a mild anesthetic after which a tube is inserted into the nose or mouth going to the airways. This tube has radio waves that produce heat and once the targeted area is reached it burns it off. Those patients who have undergone bronchial thermoplasty really are benefited because they have lesser attacks and have a general feeling of well-being. However, this new heat treatment is now totally without risk.
This study about this new treatment is published in the New England Journal of Medicine. One of the authors is Dr. John D. Miller, an associate professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
