Sufficient Sleep for Better Memory

Sleep for Better Memory

Deadlines for work and school, too much partying and staying up so late at night watching TV and maybe just doing nothing ... sound familiar? Yes, all of us have undergone this kind of situation at one time or another. These situations may seem harmless and just natural to you, however, there’s always the “but”. Ever experienced that feeling of knowing something but what it is exactly just completely eludes you? Like everything seems to be “foggy” up there? That is the effect of sleep deprivation.

According to a study presented in the Nature Neuroscience, lack of sleep “impair your brain’s ability to make new memories.” So if you continually stay up so late doing your thing you will be depriving yourself of creating new memories. Anything that your colleague, friends or family might have said to you that day when you lacked so much sleep will not be retained by your brain.

Like what some people say, too much of something is bad; the same thing can be said for having too little. This time you know that lack of sleep is harmful for your memory, so be sure to get sufficient sleep tonight.
