There’s great news for pregnant women out there and also to would-be mommies. Many women dream to have normal, cute, beautiful and not to mention, smart kids right? Well these qualities can’t be dictated upon; however when it comes to intelligence, a recent research says that if an expectant mother eats fish it is likely that her offspring will be a smart one. In the observations done in the research it is said that kids whose moms ate more fish and other seafood have better developmental skills than kids whose moms did not.
According to the researcher of US National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism Dr. Joseph Hibbeln, seafood is the chief source of omega-3 fatty acids which play a vital role in the brain growth of the fetus. This finding is quite a surprising one because previously the U.S. government health experts have suggested that pregnant women should cut down on their seafood intake so that ingestion of harmful toxin called mercury will be avoided. This substance is very detrimental to a developing fetus.
So, this new finding that intake of seafood is good in order to have smarter offspring will sure inspire some controversy. More tests have to be conducted so for the meantime ... mom just eat seafood in moderation.
