It has long been known that tea is packed with antioxidants needed by our body to neutralize free radicals that damage important cellular molecules, but recent study shows that tea has more health benefits and that drinking lots of tea everyday is better than drinking glasses of water. Like water, researchers from UK found out that tea rehydrates our body contrary to earlier studies that said that drinks containing caffeine, like tea, can dehydrate the body. Dr. Ruxton, one of the researchers, said that even a strong cup of tea could help replace fluid in the body.

What makes tea better than water are its “flavonoids,” the group of antioxidants that protect our cells from damages. These antioxidants help in strengthening our bones, preventing tooth decay and fighting heart ailments and cancers like colorectal cancer. The researchers recommend people to drink 3-4 cups of tea everyday. This contains antioxidants 8 times more than the amount of antioxidants found in an apple.
