Women Smokers More Prone to Lung Cancer

Based on the findings of a study conducted by the researchers from New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, women smokers are more prone to lung cancer BUT death rate among women with lung cancer is lower. The study was not able to pin point though the reason why women smokers are more vulnerable to cancer-causing agents found in cigarette smoke, but the study indicated that women smokers should watch their health more closely as they are at greater risk of developing the disease.

In the US, there are about 73,000 American women who shall die of lung cancer this year alone, says American Cancer Society. This number is far greater than the total number of women who shall die from breast and ovarian cancer. With these facts alone, women smokers, especially young ones, should really consider quitting by now.

A friend of mine who used to smoke a lot told me regularly exercising helped her quit smoking. I think exercising is really a good idea because it helps improve your physical, emotional and psychological well-being. As a result, you’ll feel more relaxed even when the going gets tough. Try to get fit and gradually quit your bad habit. It’s easier said than done, I know, but it’s better to try than not doing anything at all.
