Big Emmy Winners: The Sopranos & 30 Rock

Although there were so many winners last night at the glittering ceremony of The Emmy Awards, the biggest ones were the ones who won Best Drama & Best Comedy ... The Sopranos & 30 Rock.
During the ceremony, as the award for Best Actor in a Drama was about to be handed out, i was pretty sure The Sopranos James Gandolfini was going to win ... i really didn't expect James Spader to take away the trophy! ... I was a bit disappointed ... But, what i didn't know is that there was a bigger award waiting for Gandolfini & the cast of The Sopranos by the end of the ceremony.

Did Live Earth Serve Its Purpose?
Last Saturday hundreds of performers – actors, singers and even politicians came together in the worldwide concert event Live Earth! Said concert was organized by the Alliance for Climate Protection, an organization which was founded by US former Vice President Al Gore. The whole point of the concert is to raise money for the Alliance in order to aid in raising people’s awareness on what they can do in order to protect the environment specifically from global warming. The concert lasted 24-hours with various stars making attendance at the New Jersey Giants Stadium. Being a concert, the people were really kept entertained by the different musical scores while at the same time giving them some food for thought about the environment.

MTV Video Music Awards Update!
Every year, the wild MTV VMA's are an event that no one wants to miss but because MTV shows it about 100 times after it's finished no one really bothers to watch it live! So this year MTV are giving the awards a facelift!
The first part of the change is that it will be airing from Las Vegas, the reason for this being that MTV worries that the VMA’s are getting a bit tame and what better way to make things wild than to move to Sin City! The VMAs previously aired from Miami, New York and Los Angeles, so this year’s venue is quite a change!

The prime of young Hollywood actors and actresses hit the red carpet recently to present and receive the Young Hollywood Awards. Justin Long (the actor from the teen comedy ‘Accepted’) played the role of the host and MC to the event and welcomed all the young faces who went up to accept and present the awards! Sarah Jessica Parker & The Tap Project

Today is World Water Day ... we should celebrate the blessing of clean water that we have & should find ways to protect it & save it.
In the U.S., a new project called 'Tap Project' has been launched yesterday on the occasion of World Water Day.
Tap Project aims to create viable sources of clean water programs for those living in underdeveloped countries.
This is how it works; tomorrow for example, Manhattan restaurants will invite diners to donate one dollar for their normally free tap water towards UNICEF.

How did Ellen DeGeneres do at The Oscars?

Ellen is a funny gal ... but how did she do last night at The Oscars?
It was Ellen's first time hosting the Academy Awards ... she had lots of jokes up her sleeve ... but were they funny enough ... does she get 10 out of 10?
She wasn't sharp ... but her warm & low key jokes were what relaxed the audiences & made them at ease.
One of the funniest things she said was: "hosting the Oscars has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Let that be a lesson to you kids out there - aim lower."
Then there was that ironic parallel between Jennifer Hudson, a losing contestant from American Idol & former US Vice President Al Gore, who lost an election for president despite winning the popular vote.

Best Moments of The Oscars Red Carpet

The Red Carpet is always an exciting place to be ... The stars arrive, the cameras start flashing away & the reporters get their chance to ask the stars all the questions, whether silly, funny or burning questions ... They just fire away!
Last night the red carpet was bubbling & sizzling ... Wish I was there!
In all cases, the best moments of the red carpet arrivals -in my opinion- were when Nicole Kidman & Naomi Watts stood side by side for an 'Aussie' moment! Kidman looked smashing in a red dress, while Watts looked elegant in a cream dress ... She did look like she had a baby bump underneath that dress!

Who Ruled The Oscars?

So many stars, so many categories, so may nominations ... But who won the real golden boy? Which stars can really say they ruled the Oscars last night?
In my opinion, Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren & Jennifer Hudson were in control! Oh! I cannot forget Martin Scorsese ... He won! At last he won! Not only one awards, but four! Most importantly one for Best Director & another for Best Adapted Screenplay & both are for The Departed. He must have been ecstatic!

Will Jon Stewart Host The Oscars?

The long search for a host for the most important night in Hollywood isn't over yet! At least as far as we know!
Jon Stewart did a great job last year & if he cracks the jokes at the 79th Academy Awards on February 25th, it would be fantastic!
Billy Crystal was the host 8 or 9 times ... he surprised us every time with new jokes & great punch lines. I wasn't so excited about Chris Rock the other year ... but last year Jon made the event worth watching even more!
Who would you like to see hosting The Oscars this year? ... Me, i'd give my vote to Jon Stewart!
January 24, 2007

The Razzies are close! Oh! Oh!

Ha Ha! The Razzies are close ... On February 24th some movies & actors will be awarded the Golden Raspberry ... But I guess they won't be jumping with joy about it!
What's so 'not' cool about this, is that the Razzies are only a day before the real deal, The Oscars!
So, guess who's on the list for a huge golden raspberry ... Sharon Stone & her movie Basic instinct 2 ... What do you think? ... Did she suck to the extent of being awarded a raspberry?

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt at The Golden Globes Awards
I was waiting for The Golden Globe Awards & the thing i wanted to see most was Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt arriving together to the red carpet.
Brad was stunning in his Tux & Angelina was too ... but i think her dress was a bit too simple for the event.
Angelina has a contract with St. John, she is obligated to wear clothing from St. John on the red carpet due to a deal as spokesperson for the clothing maker. And it seems she wasn't happy with the dress this time! It was obvious that there was something bothering her during the awards.

A Golden Night with The Golden Globe Awards
It's only hours away ... I am on my toes & I bet you are too.
The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills is the place where it all happens & where the lucky ones will hold a Golden Globe in their hands ... You know it, it's “The 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards”.
Tim Allen, Jessica Biel, Sean Combs -P.Diddy-, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Dustin Hoffman, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Djimon Hounsou, Steven Spielberg & Renee Zellweger have been set as presenters.
The hottest competition will be between the movies Babel, Flags of Our Fathers & The Queen.
As for the actors, it's funny this year that Leonardo Di Caprio is competing against himself in Blood Diamond & The Departed! So, this time, he's got more chances than other actors to win in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.

58th Emmy Awards: New Rules, New Faces, Wrong Picks?

Does the 58th Emmy Awards mean new rules, new faces, and wrong picks? Many television critics are raising their eyebrows as last year’s best drama series “Lost” is not in the list. Beyonce Knowles at the BET Awards

The BET Music Awards last night were fantastic! Great performances by great performers.
Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Janet Jackson & Prince made the night unforgettable.
But it was Beyonce Knowles that electrified the stage & the audience. She performed her new song Deja Vu, which is actually a duet with her fiancee Jay-Z.
Their performance was great, & you can see that they seem to be very compatible ... I am not sure anymore that they are breaking up!

Everything Oscars 2006

The Academy Awards is Hollywood's biggest night, no doubt!
Millions of people watch this huge event each year in hopes that their favorite actor, actress, director and movie might win top honors.
We all saw Clint Eastwood's labor of love, Million Dollar Baby, receive the top awards last year (including; Best Picture, Best Director for Clint Eastwood, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Hilary Swank, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Morgan Freeman)
And who could forget The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King's 11 Oscar sweep back in 2004?
You gotta love the Oscars!
With the Academy Awards ceremony only hours away, people are still wondering who is going to walk away with the Oscar tonight, while others have already placed their bets.
Many have predicted, some are conflicted, but at the end of the day... It's not about who we want to win, it's about who is going to win!
This year it looks like a close race in all the major categories...
