Imagine that is just the first day! $12.7 million earned internationally and $7.4 million in the U.S.

These figures make Michael Jackson one of the top earning dead celebrities. He earned 90 million this year and 72 million after his death. However, he was beaten by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent who earned $350 million after his death.
The “This Is It” documentary is the compilation of the video footage that was taken during Jacko’s rehearsals. This will be the last memory that fans will have of the King of Pop while he was alive that’s why the hype about the documentary is understandable.
Because of the enthusiastic reception of the movie, Sony is now considering if it will extend the two-week screening.

Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT is an incredible and brilliant movie. You just cannot deny his talent. Forget the hype, forget the scandal, Michael Jackson at his core was special and out of this world. Everything he does/did turns to gold at one point or another. Just look at the collectibles market now too. Some rare and hard to find Michael Jackson collectibles have taken quite a jump

The hype around the film is understandable, but is it right to make money off of dead celebrities? On the other hand, I think that this is what MJ would have wanted to do with the footage.
